Summer 2023 Fellow: N/A

Office Description:

Senator Josh Becker is a public policy innovator working at the nexus of community activism, technology and social justice. Elected to the State Senate in November 2020, Senator Becker represents the residents of California’s 13th Senate District, which comprises most of San Mateo County and the northern part of Santa Clara County.

Description of the Work:

Interns will assist with legislative research projects, data analysis, social media content creation, and more. Interns in our office also help track local news stories, represent the Senator at events, attend webinars relating to regional and state issues, and meet with local stakeholders such as lobbyists, representatives from local organizations, and Senate District 13 staff. We do our best to assign interns projects that align with their legislative areas of interest. The internship will be virtual, with opportunities to attend in-person events if interested.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Coursework:

We expect interns to be diligently communicative, well-organized, and strong writers. Though previous experience is not required, demonstrated interest (e.g. through a class or past internship) in one or more specific issue areas (e.g. a specific area of climate policy) is highly encouraged.
