Office Description
The National Congress of American Indians Fund (NCAI Fund) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit public education arm of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), which is the Nation’s oldest and largest organization made up of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal Nations and their citizens. NCAI’s mission is to educate tribal, federal, and state government officials and the public about tribal self-government, treaty rights, and policy issues affecting Indian Country.
Description of the Work
NCAI offers premier internship and fellowship opportunities for excelling Native scholars who are recent high school graduates, college students, or graduate and professional students. These programs provide direct exposure to policy-making, legislative advocacy, and other key areas that support Tribal sovereignty. Interns work alongside NCAI staff across all departments and gain practical experience in legislative advocacy, policy development, Tribal mobilization, and long-term resilience building. They are assigned to different departments, learning in cohorts to develop a deep understanding of NCAI’s work and the broader landscape of Federal Indian Policy.
