Office Description:

The International Trade Administration (ITA) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce that promotes trade and investment, strengthening the global competitiveness of American businesses. ITA assists U.S. companies in expanding their exports by providing market intelligence, trade counseling, and advocacy for U.S. products abroad. It also helps businesses navigate foreign regulations, ensuring compliance with trade laws and promoting fair trade practices through enforcement of U.S. trade agreements. ITA works closely with U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide to facilitate international business relationships and resolve trade barriers. Additionally, the agency attracts foreign investment into the United States by highlighting the competitive advantages of the U.S. economy. By fostering international economic engagement, ITA plays a critical role in advancing U.S. commercial interests globally, promoting job growth, and sustaining economic prosperity for American industries and workers.

With offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, we provide a range of services to help U.S. companies do business in Mexico including market intelligence, due diligence on prospective partners, business matchmaking, counseling on export mechanics, and U.S. government advocacy.

Description of the Work

As an intern with the International Trade Administration (ITA), you’ll be at the forefront of global trade and diplomacy, gaining hands-on experience in international business development. You’ll work on exciting projects that directly impact U.S. companies expanding into foreign markets. From conducting market research and analyzing trade data to assisting in organizing high-level trade missions and business delegations, you’ll contribute to real-world efforts that promote U.S. exports and foster international partnerships. You’ll have the chance to attend meetings with top U.S. companies and foreign officials, providing you with an insider’s view of international commerce and diplomacy.
