Office Description

The Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace (HOPe) was established in 2021 and is managed by Hiroshima Prefecture as an implementing vehicle to make a world without nuclear weapons. HOPe works on three programs aim to (1) promote awareness of the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapon, (2) seek a security system without reliance on nuclear deterrence, and (3) bridge the perspectives of nuclear disarmament and other global issues – such as global warming, global health, and human rights – for advancing a nuclear weapon free world as a global agenda for a sustainable future .

Description of the Work

  • Assist in the planning and hosting international events and conferences about research on a security system without nuclear deterrence and the nexus of nuclear disarmament and sustainable future for the 80th memorial of the atomic bombing and nuclear disarmament education programs for the youth.
  • Coordinate with NGOs and manage the #CranesForOurFuture campaign, which is a SNS campaign to amplify peace messages towards a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.
  • Organize a strategy to get a lot of participation in the campaign.
  • Contribute to concept notes, talking points, meeting notes, reports in English of events and conferences for the 80th memorial of the atomic bombing.
  • Provide administration and communication support (including website and social media) on HOPe summer activities.
