Office Description

The San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development is a City and County of San Francisco agency. OEWD strives to create a thriving and resilient economy, where barriers to economic and workforce opportunities are removed, and ​prosperity is shared equitably by all.​ The OEWD Workforce Development Division trains and connects San Franciscans to sustainable jobs with career growth opportunities and promote prosperity for all residents, including the unemployed, underemployed, and hard-to-employ residents. The Workforce Development Division oversees the San Francisco Workforce Development System, a $180 million network of public agencies, community-based service providers, and training organizations that offer employment-related services for youth and young adults, workers, job seekers, and employers to support San Francisco’s workforce, create reinforcing economic opportunity, and sustain economic growth.

Description of the Work

We would like the intern to broadly support the Citywide Workforce Development Plan strategy, which includes policy body convening, planning, and implementation of actions/projects. There are over 70 different projects which could be supported by the intern ranging from labor market information research, industry research, research on best practices, stakeholder interview, stakeholder engagement, program design, community input process design, public body facilitation, and more. We are willing to customize the placement based on the intern's interests. More information about this strategy is here.
