Office Description:
The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK), founded in 2001 and based in Washington DC, is a non-partisan human rights organization whose principal objective is to raise international awareness of North Korea’s human rights situation through the publication of well documented reports and by undertaking outreach activities in support of the recommendations in those reports.
Description of the Work
Interns may be involved in various aspects of the organization’s work, including preparing report manuscripts for publication, research, translation, event planning, advocacy, and social media outreach. There is also an opportunity to publish a written piece on issues relating to North Korean human rights. The exact composition of tasks and projects may differ depending on the intern’s interests and the organization’s priorities during the internship period.
Desired Skills:
- Background in Korean/Asian Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law, or Communications
- Writing, editing, and analytical skills
- Korean language skills are not required, but would be an asset
