Summer in D.C.

While SIG provides a number of summer fellowships for Stanford undergraduates in DC, we recognize that there are a large number of undergraduates living and working in DC each summer who are not supported directly by SIG.  Because there is also a significant population of alumni working in DC who are great examples of a lifelong commitment to public service, and because many of the Stanford interns in DC may not know each other but likely share similar interests, SIG has committed itself to providing summer programming for Stanford students in DC.

A major part of this summer program includes a speaker series that features interesting Washington, DC contacts, such as members of Congress, journalists, and political appointees.  Past speakers have included Josh Bolten (White House Chief of Staff), Congressman James Sensenbrenner, Congressman Jim Kolbe, Walter Pincus (veteran Washington Post reporter), and Keith Hennessey (Deputy Director of the National Economic Council).  Other summer activities include social hours, Washington Nationals games, picnics, softball games, monument tours, and events with alumni.

The events are coordinated by an Educational Program Coordinator (EPC).
