Each spring quarter, Stanford in Government teams up with the ASSU Speakers Bureau to host a speaking event on campus with a prominent public figure. The “Spring Speaker” for 2007-2008 has yet to be announced, but stay tuned for updates. Past speakers include:

Gen. Wesley Clark ran for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2004 and was the Supreme Commander of NATO in Europe until 2000.

John Edwards (April 26, 2006):

John Edwards was the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee in 2004 and a United States Senator from North Carolina.

L. Paul Bremer (April 19, 2005)

L. Paul Bremer was the head of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq from 2003 to 2004, which placed him in charge of reconstructing Iraq’s civil administration before it was handed over to the Iraqi people. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in late 2004.

Carol Moseley Braun (April 13, 2004)

Carol Moseley Braun was the United States’ first female African-American senator and a candidate for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination.
